Mid-Atlantic has assisted a manufacturer in securing a brownfields agreement for their new site in Laurinburg, NC. The Laurinburg plant is the former home of a golf grip manufacturer. The site is contaminated with chlorinated solvents from these former operations. Mid-Atlantic wrote the Brownfields application, assisted with pre-purchase negotiations with the seller (who retained responsibility for the environmental cleanup) and continues to assist the client in the negotiation of the Brownfields agreement. The facility is currently operational and it is estimated that this redevelopment will result in up to $12M in facility improvements and bring up to 100 jobs to the area.
Mid-Atlantic will be assisting a New York company with the redevelopment of a former industrial facility in Butner, NC. Working with a local real estate agent, Mid-Atlantic will be consulting with the company on the best way to bring their operation to the area. We anticipate using the NC Brownfields program as part of this endeavor. This redevelopment, slated to take place in the first half of 2010, will result in the reuse of an abandoned plant and bring needed jobs to the area.
